Caboose
This ‘unique’ NMh class caboose was one of twenty cars built in 1931 and was one of the first five equipped with a single cast steel chassis. This caboose can be seen in the book entitled Reading Company Cabooses by John W. Hall, and evidence suggests it may have served as the model for the American Flyer model train caboose. It was donated to the Town of Ridgely in 2006 by the Reverend (aka Dr Peter) Morganstern a retired station master for the Reading Railroad out of Philadelphia, PA.
In 2011 the Ridgely Historical Society supplemented funds that remained from a Town Grant that established a Rails-To-Trails bike path, and restored the exterior of the caboose to the way it looked when it rolled off the Reading, PA, assembly line June 25th, 1931.
